The initial scoping of our study into Global Warming and Marxist Crisis Theory (see below) has encountered the argument that the Chernobyl Crisis in 1986 crippled the response to then emerging evidence of global warming in which fossil fuels would be replaced with nuclear power. While it is undeniable that Chernobyl undermined confidence in nuclear power, is there any evidence that there was any such response underway in 1986, whether in the former USSR or elsewhere? If you are aware of any such evidence or can point us to it, the CUiSL convenor at firstname.lastname@example.org would very much like to hear from you.
We continue to extend a warm welcome to anyone wishing to participate in this study. You can do this by registering your interest with the convenor or, even better, by attending CUiSL at 7.30 pm on the third Thursday of every month (August and December excepted) at Ruskin House, 23 Coombe Road, Croydon CR0 1BD when progress will be reviewed and future work planned.
